The novel in question is The Fall of the Sparrow by Nigel Balchin. I had not heard of the novel nor the author, but found it tucked away in a shelf at my uni’s library, and thought the title was good enough that the book itself may turn out to be a Worthwhile Read. My initial assumptions were correct. The Fall of a Sparrow is, like Philosophy Made Simple, the story of a man and his three daughters, the stuff of fairy tales, as Hellenga remarks, and like a true fairy tale it’s full of light. The way L.J Shen wrote this book was thrilling and motivating, it wasn't just typical boy mets girl they fall in love and live happily ever after. loved this book, loved Sparrow & Troy, both are so funny and loveable. i would like a second book 3 people found this helpful. John "Kit" McKittrick (John Garfield) endured two years of brutal torture after being captured in the Spanish Civil War. However, he managed to withhold the vital information sought by his captors, particularly their leader, a never-seen Nazi with a limp.
